Sports Funding System in KP Under Question: Neglect of Associations and Concerns Over Selective Grants
Musarrat Ullah Jan , KikxNow , Digital Creator Serious questions are being raised over the sports funding system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where sports associations claim that regular grant-in-aid support has largely stopped since 2020, while at the same time selective funding is being approved for specific events and individuals. According to sports circles, there are around 38 registered sports associations in the province, but over the past several years, there has been little to no consistent financial support from the government. As a result, grassroots sports activities, local tournaments, and training programs have been severely affected. Athletes and organizers say the lack of funding has weakened several sports disciplines, limiting opportunities for young players to develop and progress at competitive levels.
