Baseball Camp Payment Irregularities: Cheques Issued, Funds Missing, Players Left Unpaid

Serious financial irregularities have emerged from a baseball training camp
held between 3 July 2023 and 8 September 2023, raising questions over payment
transparency and fund distribution among participating athletes.
According to available details, each player was
entitled to Rs 24,000 as camp remuneration. However, the payment process
appears inconsistent, non-transparent, and allegedly discriminatory.
Only three players, identified as Shazia,
Nasira, and Paracha, reportedly received full payments. Another player, Gul
Pari, was issued a cheque, but the amount has not yet been credited to her bank
account.
In contrast, at least 14 players, including
Saman Shah, Sawera, Mahanoor, Sidra Khattak, Hina Kishwar, Kainat Akbar, Asma,
Rameen, Arij, Khair-un-Nisa, Nida, Mubina, Muqaddas, and Shamim, reportedly
received neither cheques nor any form of payment.
The situation becomes more questionable as some
cheques were reportedly issued in 2024, long after the conclusion of the camp,
raising concerns about administrative delay and financial mismanagement.
Affected players claim they repeatedly
followed up on the issue but were given no clear explanation regarding payment
delays or the criteria used for disbursement.
Officials linked to the camp maintain that the
payments were “non-governmental.” However, this claim has further intensified
concerns, as questions remain about the source of funds, the basis on which
cheques were issued, and why only selected players were paid.
Players have demanded a transparent and independent
investigation, full disclosure of financial records, and immediate clearance of
all outstanding dues. Sports governance experts warn that unresolved cases of
this nature can significantly damage trust in sports institutions and
discourage athlete participation.
