An administrative issue has reportedly emerged concerning government residential quarters at Shah Tahmas Football Ground in Peshawar.

According to sources, the Regional Sports Office does not have information regarding the house rent status of two employees currently residing at the football ground. One of them is an Assistant who is currently serving as a District Sports Officer, while the other is also an Assistant.

Sources say the Regional Sports Office has written to the provincial Sports Directorate, asking it to verify from the employees’ respective districts whether they are receiving house rent there.

In contrast, sources say the house rent status of three other employees residing at the football ground has been verified. They reportedly have official permission to occupy the respective quarters and are regularly paying house rent.

According to Sports Directorate sources, complaints regarding employees residing at the football ground had prompted an inquiry. The inquiry reportedly established these facts, but questions remain over what action was taken afterwards.

The issue reportedly goes beyond house rent.

Sources allege that some of the government quarters at Shah Tahmas Football Ground are using electricity directly without individual electricity meters. The quarters reportedly also have air conditioners installed.

If verified, the situation raises questions about who authorized electricity use without meters and who is paying for the electricity consumed by these government residences.

Key questions for the authorities:

• Why does the Regional Sports Office lack house rent records for the two employees?
• Are they receiving house rent from their respective districts?
• Are all quarters at Shah Tahmas Football Ground being occupied under valid allotment orders?
• Who authorized electricity use without functioning meters?
• Who is responsible for the electricity consumed by these quarters?
• If the departmental inquiry identified irregularities, why was further action not taken?
