The electricity meter installed at the Pakistan Tennis Club in Shahi Bagh, Peshawar, has reportedly gone missing. Sources say the administration has been informed about the matter.

According to sources, people allegedly involved in drug use frequently visit the area around the tennis club. Employees reportedly say that some of these individuals carry knives, leaving staff reluctant to intervene due to concerns for their safety.

More concerning are allegations that electricity is now being supplied to the Pakistan Tennis Club through a direct wire from the Shah Tahmas Football Ground.

Sources further claim that the electricity meter at the football ground has also been burnt out, and electricity has allegedly been used without a functioning meter for more than two weeks.

The allegations raise questions about who is using this electricity and whether the supply is also being used by employees residing in government accommodation. Sources allege that some of these residences have two air conditioners installed.

If verified, the matter could involve unauthorized use of electricity and potential loss to the public exchequer.

The relevant authorities should clarify:

• When and how did the Pakistan Tennis Club’s electricity meter disappear?
• Who authorized the temporary electricity connection?
