Complaints Against Pakistan Tennis Club Employee Over Alleged Money Collection and Absence From Duty

Serious complaints have reportedly emerged against an employee posted at the Pakistan Tennis Club in Peshawar, with allegations involving money borrowed or collected from players, club employees and other individuals.

According to sources, the employee was recruited as a lifeguard despite having a disability, allegedly because of his relationship with a former Director General of Sports. Sources further allege that he has subsequently been reluctant to perform his assigned duties.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate reportedly issued a show-cause notice to the employee recently.

More complaints have now emerged regarding alleged collection of money from people coming to the tennis club for training. According to sources, amounts ranging from Rs2,000 to Rs5,000 were allegedly taken from some individuals.

Some people selling sharbat outside the tennis club have also reportedly complained about the employee. Sources claim that people allegedly come to the club on a regular basis looking for him over financial disputes.

According to the complaints, the employee is frequently absent from duty and, when present, disputes sometimes arise with visitors or other individuals.

Following the issuance of the show-cause notice, the employee was reportedly placed at the Regional Sports Office for a period before being sent back to the tennis club.

Sources further claim that complaints about alleged inappropriate activities during night hours led to instructions for the employee to perform duty during daytime hours. However, sources now allege that he is again not properly performing his duties.

The tennis club administration has reportedly submitted a written complaint to the Regional Sports Officer, Peshawar, but questions remain over what action, if any, was taken.

The key issue is not simply whether the allegations are true. It is whether the department has properly investigated them.

The authorities should clarify:

• Under what procedure was the employee recruited?
• Did he have a family relationship with the former DG Sports, and did that relationship have any role in his appointment?
• What allegations were included in the show-cause notice, and what was his response?
• Were the allegations of collecting Rs2,000 to Rs5,000 from trainees investigated?
• What action was taken on the written complaint submitted by the tennis club administration?
• Who authorized his return to the Pakistan Tennis Club?
