The Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued strict new instructions to all Regional Sports Officers (RSOs) and District Sports Officers (DSOs), making prior approval mandatory for all sports events and enforcing a province-wide digital registration system for athletes.

Under the directive, no sports event can be organized without formal approval from the Director General Sports KP. Officials have been instructed to submit event proposals well in advance to ensure clearance from the competent authority.

In a parallel move aimed at digitization, the department has advanced to the second phase of its Management Information System (MIS), focusing on the compulsory registration of all players participating in sports activities across the province.

Key points of the MIS policy include:

Only registered players will be allowed to participate in any official event

Each athlete must be assigned a unique registration number after entry into the system

CNIC or B-Form details are mandatory for registration

Registration applies to all athletes regardless of club, association, or independent status

DSOs are responsible for registering players within their respective districts only

All compensation including kits, shoes, stipends, TA/DA, and cash prizes will be linked to individual player profiles

A one-month grace period has been granted for full compliance

After the deadline, unregistered players will be ineligible for participation or financial benefits

The directive also requires DSOs to report weekly progress on player registrations, including total numbers registered in their districts.

Officials say the system aims to improve transparency, streamline athlete records, and eliminate duplication in sports participation and benefits distribution.

However, the success of this policy will depend on implementation at district level, where capacity gaps and incomplete data systems have historically slowed down digitization efforts.
