Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association Takes Major Step — Coaches Nominated Across Province for Nationwide Coaching Program

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association (KPHA), in collaboration with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), has announced a major initiative aimed at promoting hockey in the province and upgrading coaching standards through a structured national program.

Under the supervision of PHF Development Director and former Olympian Tahir Zaman, the “Nationwide Coaching Education Program” is being launched to modernize coaching practices and strengthen the sport from the grassroots level.

As part of this initiative, KPHA has finalized and submitted names of eligible and talented coaches from all districts of the province for formal approval. The nominations have been forwarded for inclusion in the national program.

The list has been issued under the signatures of KP Hockey Association President Syed Zahir Shah, Chairman and former IGP Muhammad Saeed Khan, and Secretary Hidayatullah. According to officials, representation has been ensured from all major districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials stated that the core aim of the program is to strengthen the local hockey structure, enhance the skills of emerging coaches, and train them according to international standards. The initiative is seen as an effort to revive Pakistan hockey and restore its lost international standing.

President Syed Zahir Shah has officially forwarded the final list of nominated coaches to the Pakistan Hockey Federation and approved .

Swat: Muhammad Naif, Abbas Ahmed

Peshawar: Yasir Islam, Asif Islam, Waqas Ahmed , ibrahim

Bannu: Barkat Ali Khan, Rafiullah, Waleed Akhtar

Kohat: Muhammad Asif, Irfanullah, Shoaib

Malakand:  Zakria Khan , adnan

Buner: Zahid Ali, Gul Ghafoor

Mardan: Ali Akbar, M. Rehan Ashraf

Nowshera: Malik Zahir, Kifayat Shah

Charsadda: Muhammad Kamran

Dera Ismail Khan: M. Ramzan, M. Javed

Swabi: Muhammad Ismail, Mehfooz-ur-Rehman

Lower Dir: Muhammad Atif, Zeeshan Khan

Haripur: Haq Nawaz, Zubair Khan

All nominated names have been sent to PHF and approved.

According to the KP Hockey Association, the training of these coaches will provide modern hockey education to players at the grassroots level. Officials believe this will serve as a strong nursery for future national team talent.

The initiative is being viewed as a structured attempt to rebuild hockey infrastructure in the province through proper coaching development and standardized training pathways.
