Pakistan Baseball Federation Faces Initial Ban Over Rs. 42 Million Grant Non-Compliance, Final 7-Day Deadline Issued

Islamabad: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has initiated
strict action against the Pakistan Federation Baseball for failing to submit
complete financial records and audited accounts related to government grants
totaling Rs. 42 million released during the fiscal years 2022–23 and 2023–24.
Despite repeated reminders and sufficient time provided, the
federation has failed to submit mandatory financial documentation, including
original vouchers, receipts, invoices, and bank statements detailing the
utilization of the funds.
In this regard, PSB issued a final notice on 22 April 2026,
directing the Pakistan Federation Baseball to submit complete original
financial records within seven days. The notice clearly warned that failure to
comply would result in strict disciplinary action.
Under Rule 13(8) of the Pakistan Sports Board Constitution
2022, the Director General PSB is authorized to inspect and examine the
accounts, records, and overall working of any national sports federation.
Similarly, Rule 20(11) requires all federations to maintain proper accounts,
ensure annual audit by a certified chartered accountant, and produce records
whenever required by the government or PSB.
However, the Pakistan Federation Baseball failed to comply
within the stipulated deadline, which has been treated as a clear violation of
PSB regulations. This non-compliance has also raised concerns regarding
transparency in the utilization of public funds.
As a result, PSB has imposed an initial ban on Syed Ali
Shah, Treasurer of the Pakistan Federation Baseball.
Furthermore, the federation has been granted a final
seven-day opportunity to submit complete original financial records. In case of
continued failure, PSB may proceed with further actions, including:
Imposition of bans on the President, Secretary General, and
other office bearers
Suspension of the federation’s affiliation
Any other legal and regulatory measures deemed necessary
Under the ban, Syed Ali Shah is prohibited from
participating in, representing, or associating with any sports-related activity
at national or international level, and is barred from seeking funds or
recognition from PSB or any affiliated body.
All sports departments, federations, and associations have
been instructed not to extend any cooperation or facilitation to the banned
individual.
The decision is appealable within 30 days under PSB
regulations.
