Tariq Pervaiz Rejects Restrictions, Defends Bodybuilding Event Amid Recognition Dispute

Amid an ongoing dispute over the recognition status of a bodybuilding body, Tariq Pervaiz has strongly defended his position, insisting that no authority can stop his group from continuing its activities and participation in sports events.

Responding to concerns raised after the Pakistan Sports Board declared the bodybuilding body linked to him as unrecognized, Tariq Pervaiz said that such restrictions would make no sense if his athletes are still able to participate in national competitions.

“No one can stop us. If we are banned, then how can we participate in the National Games under PSB?” he said while defending the legitimacy of his organization.

Tariq Pervaiz also downplayed the scale of the recently held bodybuilding event in Peshawar, while at the same time emphasizing the strength of his support network.

“It was not such a big event, but all departments are with us, and we have been associated with bodybuilding for a long time,” he stated.

His remarks come at a time when questions are being raised over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s approval of financial support for a bodybuilding championship, despite prior directives from the Pakistan Sports Board stating that the “Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation” associated with him is not recognized.

The Pakistan Sports Board had earlier warned all stakeholders to disregard communications or decisions issued by the body associated with Tariq Pervaiz, declaring that it had no legal authority to operate as a national federation.

However, Tariq Pervaiz maintains that his organization remains active and continues to enjoy the support of various departments, a claim that raises further questions regarding enforcement of the PSB directives.

The situation highlights an apparent contradiction between federal regulatory decisions and practical participation on the ground, where athletes and organizers linked to disputed bodies continue to operate in official sporting environments.

This has prompted calls for clarity from both the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate and the Pakistan Sports Board regarding the recognition status of bodybuilding bodies operating in the province and their eligibility for public support.

Until an official clarification is issued, uncertainty is likely to persist over who holds legitimate authority in the sport and under what framework public funds and participation rights are being granted.
