Islamabad:
The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has initiated strict action against the
Pakistan Netball Federation for failing to submit complete adjustment accounts
and audited financial records for government grants totaling Rs. 65 million
released during the fiscal years 2022–23 and 2023–24.
According to
official records, PSB released Rs. 32 million in FY 2022–23 and Rs. 33 million
in FY 2023–24 to the Pakistan Netball Federation. Despite repeated directives,
the federation has failed to provide mandatory financial documentation,
including original receipts, vouchers, invoices, audit statements, and bank
statements explaining the utilization of funds.
The PSB
issued multiple reminders through official correspondence dated 03 September
2024, 16 September 2024, 29 August 2025, and 18 December 2025, directing the
federation to submit complete financial records. However, the federation did
not comply.
As a result,
PSB had already taken action against the office bearers who were in charge at
the time of receiving the grants and later issued a final notice on 22 April
2026 to the current office holders, giving them seven days to submit complete
original financial records. The warning clearly stated that failure to comply
would result in further disciplinary action, including suspension of
affiliation.
Under Rule
13(8) of the Pakistan Sports Board Constitution 2022, the Director General PSB
is authorized to inspect and examine the accounts and working of any national
sports federation. Similarly, Rule 20(11) requires federations to maintain
proper audited accounts and produce them whenever required by the government or
PSB.
Despite
these legal obligations, the Pakistan Netball Federation failed to submit the
required documentation within the stipulated time, amounting to a clear
violation of PSB regulations and raising serious concerns regarding financial
transparency and fund utilization.
In response,
PSB has imposed an initial ban on Mr. Sohail Ahmad, Treasurer of the Pakistan
Netball Federation. He is now barred from participating in, representing, or
associating with any sports activity at national or international level and is
prohibited from seeking funds or recognition from PSB or any affiliated body.
The
federation has been granted a final opportunity of seven days to submit
complete financial records. Failure to comply will lead to further actions,
including possible suspension of the federation’s affiliation and bans on the
President, Secretary General, and other office bearers.
All sports
departments and associations have been directed not to engage or cooperate with
the banned official in any capacity.
The decision
is appealable within 30 days under PSB rules.
