The recent appointments and election process of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taekwondo Association have
been challenged in a local court in Peshawar.
According to the petition filed by waqar Afridi in the court of Civil Judge Sadia Ibrahim, the constitution approved
by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association
allows only the positions of President,
Vice President, Joint Secretary, and Executive Members within the
association. However, the recent elections introduced additional positions of Patron and Chairman, which the petitioner
claims are unconstitutional.
The petition further alleges that the
individual appointed as Vice President from Swat is already serving as an
office-bearer in the swimming association, while the Secretary selected from
Abbottabad is also serving as Secretary of the wrestling association. According
to the petitioner, holding positions in two separate sports associations is a
violation of the rules.
The petition has named the Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as
a respondent, along with the Chairman, Election Commissioner of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, and the observer
from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association.
The court has scheduled the preliminary
hearing for May 19, where the
legal status of the recent elections and appointments in the KP Taekwondo
Association will be reviewed.
