Islamabad, February 26, 2026 — The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has ordered the immediate recognition and affiliation of the Balochistan Taekwondo Association (BTA) with the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), while declaring the federation’s January 2026 elections invalid.

The decision was issued by PSB Adjudicator Shakil Durrani in Petition No. 16 of 2025 after reviewing complaints regarding non-affiliation of the provincial body and disputes over the electoral college.

According to the ruling, the Balochistan elections held on September 1, 2025, were conducted under the supervision of the provincial Sports Board in compliance with the orders of the Balochistan High Court. The Adjudicator stated that the authority to determine the composition of the provincial electoral college rests exclusively with the Provincial Sports Board and not with the national federation.

The order directed the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation to immediately recognize and affiliate the duly elected Balochistan body.

The PSB also examined the validity of the PTF elections held in January 2026. The ruling concluded that the elections were conducted without the participation of all legally recognized provincial representatives and without proper PSB supervision.

The Adjudicator held that under PSB rules, national federation elections must ensure full compliance with eligibility criteria and transparent oversight. In the absence of lawful provincial representation, the January 2026 elections were declared invalid from the outset.

The decision further addressed concerns regarding tenure limits of office bearers. It reiterated that under the National Sports Policy framework and PSB tenure regulations, no official may serve beyond two constitutional terms. The ruling also referenced recent amendments clarifying that positions such as Chairman, Patron, or CEO must remain ceremonial and cannot carry administrative or financial authority.

The short order was announced during the hearing and formally served on both parties on February 26, 2026.

The development is expected to trigger structural changes within the federation and may lead to fresh elections under PSB supervision.
