Information shared by employees of the Kohat Sports Complex and local sources presents a troubling picture of an institution where, despite the presence of a formal administrative structure, transparency, record-keeping, and accountability appear to be seriously compromised.

According to sources, several administrative matters at the complex have been handled in a manner inconsistent with established rules and procedures. Alleged financial dealings without proper documentation remain a persistent concern. In this context, it is particularly notable that the name of a lower-ranking employee posted at the complex has already surfaced in an ongoing inquiry.

Employees claim that in recent days they have been made to feel that providing evidence related to these matters could result in negative consequences. While these claims have not been officially verified, the very existence of such perceptions raises serious questions about the working environment and institutional integrity.

Sources further allege that due to the continued influence of individuals close to the former administration, several financial transactions in the past were carried out without written records. Among these allegations is the claim that sports grounds were booked at unusually low rates, with no formal documentation maintained. These concerns gained further weight when, during the ongoing inquiry, employees responsible for maintaining records of various grounds were formally asked to produce booking data.

Similarly, some employees report that iron materials related to the swimming pool were removed during nighttime hours, allegedly under the supervision of on-duty staff. No final or official position has yet been issued on this matter, adding to the growing list of unanswered questions.

According to sources, the use of official residential quarters within the sports complex has also come under scrutiny. There is reportedly no clear record of electricity bill payments, nor are complete details available regarding rent collection. Such gaps directly raise concerns about the handling of public resources.

In addition, employees state that in recent months, additional responsibilities have been assigned based on administrative proximity rather than formal procedures or merit, further undermining transparency within the institution. Attempts were made to obtain an official response from the Kohat Sports Department; however, no formal reply had been received by the time this report was filed.

Taken together, these developments point to a broader pattern of administrative weakness and inadequate oversight within a facility funded by public money. This report is based on complaints and concerns raised in the public interest, and their final verification will only be possible after the conclusion of the official inquiry.

It is worth recalling that, on the directives of the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a two-member committee is currently examining allegations of corruption and administrative failures at the Kohat Sports Complex. The findings of this inquiry are expected to determine responsibility and clarify the many unresolved questions surrounding the complex’s management.
