Peshawar: A formal inquiry has been initiated against the Regional Sports Officer Kohat following serious allegations, on the directives of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to official sources, a two member inquiry committee has been constituted, comprising one officer each from PDMA and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate.

The committee has been directed to submit a detailed report to the Chief Secretary within two months. The scope of the inquiry includes the procurement, distribution, and utilization of swimming gear and other sports equipment. Sources indicate that complete records related to the equipment are not available, while in several cases documentation is either questionable or missing.

The inquiry committee will examine all financial and administrative aspects and determine whether rules and regulations were violated in the use of public resources. Government sources state that if the allegations are proven, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the responsible officials.

The move is being seen as a key test of the provincial government’s claims of transparency in the sports sector, which has previously faced complaints regarding misuse of sports equipment and funds.
