Inter-Club Tennis Tournament Begins in Peshawar

The Inter-Club Tennis Tournament organized by the Regional Sports Office
Peshawar has officially begun at the Peshawar Sports Complex. The opening
ceremony was jointly held by Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,
Tashfeen Haider, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Asghar Khan Sorani,
who inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon.
The ceremony was attended by Chairman Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association Dr. Muhammad Tahir, Senior Vice President Umar
Ayaz, Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, Administrator Yousaf Afridi, and
other officials and sports figures.
A total of more than 70 players from 16
different tennis clubs of the Peshawar region are participating in the
three-day tournament. The winning team will receive a trophy along with a cash
prize of Rs 20,000, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 15,000.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director
General Sports Tashfeen Haider said it was encouraging to see children and
young players actively engaged in sports. He stated that the Sports Department
is focusing on identifying and developing talent at the grassroots level so
that these athletes can represent the province and the country in the future.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Asghar
Khan Sorani said that promoting positive activities among the youth is essential.
He added that the district administration will continue to fully support such
sports initiatives.
The Inter-Club Tennis Tournament features
teams from Ladies Club, PDA Club Hayatabad, Peshawar University Club, Hayatabad
Sports Complex, Pakistan Tennis Club Shahi Bagh, Nowshera Garrison Officers
Club, Peshawar Services Club, Police Lines, Peshawar Sports Complex, along with
other clubs, making a total of 16 participating teams.
