A proposal to convert the sports ground of Government Higher Secondary School
No.1 Peshawar City into a “Mini Sports Complex” remains unimplemented even
after three years. The request, originally submitted in 2022 by Principal GHS
Nanak Pura and General Secretary of Schools Sports Tournament, Naveed Akhter,
was addressed to the Chairman of BISE Peshawar through the Secretary of
Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The proposal emphasized the importance of co-curricular and sports
activities as a vital part of education, noting that such initiatives are
essential for the overall development of students. It highlighted that due to
the shortage of sports grounds in Peshawar, students of elementary and secondary
schools are deprived of opportunities to participate in healthy physical
activities and showcase their talents.
The letter suggested developing the existing
school sports ground into a modern Mini Sports Complex equipped with a
gymnasium hall, multipurpose courts, playgrounds, and a 400-meter athletic
track. The initiative was aimed at promoting youth engagement in sports and
providing the community with better recreational facilities.
However, despite the detailed proposal and its
copies sent to senior education officials, no practical steps have been taken
so far. According to the school administration, they are still appealing to
various authorities for the development of the ground, but their efforts have
not yet produced any results.
The administration believes that if the
project is implemented, it would benefit not only the students of Peshawar but
also the general public by providing accessible sports facilities and
encouraging youth participation in positive and healthy activities.
