PTVC Faces Rs 1.397 Billion Loss Due to Non-Recovery from Sports Broadcasts

Karachi: Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) suffered a massive Rs 1,397.885 million loss in the financial year 2023–24 due to non-recovery of dues from advertising agencies for sports programs aired on its PTV Sports channel.

According to the audit report, management failed to ensure timely collection of bills and did not forward default cases to the Pakistan Broadcasting Association (PBA), resulting in the accumulation of outstanding payments. Several major events, including the Hero Men’s Asian Champion Trophy 2023 (Field Hockey), English Premier League 2023–24, and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, contributed to this loss as agencies did not clear their dues.

The report also highlighted that PTVC management did not provide proper documentation such as bank statements, cheques, or invoices to support recovery claims. The audit flagged this as a clear indication of weak internal controls and stressed that immediate steps are needed to recover the dues.

Audit Recommendations: Cases against defaulting agencies should be forwarded to PBA, responsible officials must be identified, and all outstanding amounts recovered without delay.
