The total budget allocated for sports development for Charsadda District’s Sports Office was PKR 60,227,360 for the year 2025-26; however, PKR 8,570,560 was actually released. Accordingly, official records showed a total expenditure of PKR 17,316,116, leaving no remaining balance from the released funds. Further, another PKR 3,000,000 allocated for sports promotion was almost fully utilized with a release of PKR 3,250,000 and nearly all spent.

Experts and locals are questioning how the youth can engage in positive sports if funds are not being released on time transparently. This has proved that the administration at the District Sports Office is not bothering about the importance of sports.

Charsadda District Demographics and Youth (2023 Census):

Total Population: 1,835,504

Literacy Rate: 53.94% (Male: 66.55%, Female: 40.36%)

Urban Population: 292,426 (15.93%)

Population under 10 years old: 542,879 (29.58%)

Experts observe that with such a large amount of youth population, sports opportunities in the district should be extended. However, less funding and poor administration are stopping the youth from channelizing their energy into positive activities.

The inactivity of the District Sports Office, along with partial disbursement of funds, severely affects participation in sports and budding talent development among youth. There is a strong need for immediate as well as transparent distribution of such funds so as to create realistic opportunities for sports as well as the development of youth.
