Bannu District Sports Association Demands Transparency and Accountability in Sports Funding

A significant meeting of the Bannu District
Sports Association (DSA) was held today, chaired by Muhammad Israr Bangash,
to discuss critical issues facing local sports and emphasize the need for
transparency in funding.
The meeting
saw the attendance of presidents, secretaries, and representatives from
numerous sports associations, including Hockey, Football, Cricket,
Volleyball, Judo, Boxing, Karate, Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Handball, Target,
Chuck Ball, Kabaddi, Lawn Tennis, and Athletics.
The agenda
focused on three key points:
- Deliberating on challenges
faced by various sports and their potential solutions.
- Highlighting the identity and
status of the Bannu District Sports Association.
- Developing a comprehensive plan
to resolve issues concerning Qazi Muhib Ground, the Boxing Ring,
Badminton Courts, and the Sports Complex.
Crucially,
the participants unanimously passed several important resolutions aimed at
preventing corruption and negligence in the allocation and utilization of
sports funds.
The DSA
decided to recommend to the Deputy Commissioner of Bannu that it must be
mandatory to submit a complete file and photographs of the work done when
releasing sports funds.
It was
further agreed that if any officer fails to maintain transparency in the
utilization of funds, a formal application will be filed for action against them.
Addressing
the participants, Chairman Muhammad Israr Bangash stated, "Providing
better facilities for Bannu's athletes is our priority. Sports fields are
not just for recreation; they are centers for character building among youth.
Therefore, there will be no compromise on transparency and accountability."
The
attendees lauded the efforts of the District Sports Association and agreed on a
unified strategy for the holistic development of all sports in the
district.
