Bannu District Sports Association Releases Statement Seeking Urgent Action on Sports Matters

The Bannu District Sports Association has again underlined the urgent sports facility issues in the district and appealed to top authorities for prompt action. The association stressed implementing practical steps towards upgrading the infrastructure and services for athletes.

The rent received from shops constructed alongside Bannu Hockey Stadium was meant to cover maintenance, repair, and operation expenses. But today, the majority of this income is being paid into the DG Office in Peshawar, with only 15–18% being directed to TMO Bannu. The association has called for this rent to be collected and spent directly by the Regional Sports Officer in Bannu.

Because of regular electricity outages, turf and supply of drinking water to sports persons at the stadium suffer, subjecting turf worth millions of rupees to damage. The association suggests converting the tube well to solar power to provide continuous supply of water.

A new gymnasium and a swimming pool beside the hockey stadium have been approved and tendered. The association emphasizes that the work should immediately start with a trusted contractor.

Current searchlights within the complex's gymnasium must be transformed into a solar power system to provide steady lighting irrespective of power shortages.

The sports complex hostel, football ground, and stadium are in poor condition. The condition of the hostel deteriorated following usage by 1122 services. The condition of the football ground's 4-inch solar tube well constructed by the contractor is poor, with only 3-inch piping which bursts under everyday pressure. Corrective action is urgently required.

Approval should be given to fix fiberglass boards in the basketball court near Qazi Muhib Hockey Stadium to enable sportsmen to have proper facilities.

Muhammad Israr Bangash, Member of the Pakistan Football Federation and Chairman Bannu District Sports Association stressed the need for taking the following steps, and authorities were called upon to take the earliest possible measures to improve sports infrastructure and sportsmen's facilities in Bannu.
