Illegal Promotion of Caretaker and Supervisor: Officials Withdraw from Secretariat Meeting

A crucial meeting was conducted at the Secretariat yesterday about the irregular promotions of caretakers and supervisors in the Provincial Sports Directorate. Senior officials of the Directorate, establishment personnel, and employees who say they were negatively impacted by such irregular promotions attended the meeting.

Also at hand was a close assistant of a previous Director General of Sports, said to have been transferred from another ministry, who is accused of having played a central part in the process. At the briefing, senior officials openly stated the promotions to be unlawful.

But in a shocking and disillusioning turn of events, the officials refused to take responsibility or initiate any concrete steps. Their attitude was that the incident had passed and they could not step in now. Rather, the staff was told to get justice in the courts, for neither the Directorate nor the Secretariat were in a position to move against the culprits.

Impacted employees reacted angrily, terming it outright injustice that the process was conceded to be illegal yet nothing was done about it.

Based on sources, the case is currently bound for the judiciary, with impacted employees ready to bring the promotions to court.
