Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – In a strange turn of events at the Sports Directorate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, electrical transformer coils that went missing under mysterious circumstances have reappeared overnight just as mysteriously. This "miraculous" appearance follows close on the heels of a viral news report of the theft, fueling suspicions of a cover-up.

Only recently, news emerged that crucial coils from the directorate's power transformer went missing. Sources say upon hearing of the theft, the acting supervisor and administrator directed security staff to initiate an inquiry right away. It was even reported that the administration was ready to submit a First Information Report (FIR) to the police. But it still has not materialized.

The game was afoot when the actual evidence at the heart of the proposed FIR – the pilfered coils – "returned" overnight. Questions come tumbling in: Who brought them back? Under whose instructions were they reinstalled? And is there an effort to cover up the original miscreants? Although the coils have been reinstalled, some components of the transformer are reportedly still unfinished, implying a rush job and possibly not done at all.

This is so disturbing coming in the wake of a series of reported thefts, misappropriation of funds, and accounting irregularities that have dogged the Sports Directorate in recent months.

The administration's silence, lack of an FIR, and secret way of reinstallation of coils only increase the doubting. Will the perpetrators of this theft be brought to book, or will they manage to escape the system?
