KP Sports Directorate Tangled in "Illicit" Promotion Controversy

Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
Sports Directorate is under heavy criticism after the untimely issuance of a
fresh seniority list for Caretakers and Storekeepers (BPS-08). The list was
published without important departmental clearance, and as a result, many
officials accepted new, possibly illicit, promotions and duties. The action
left a long shadow over the directorate's openness and recruitment procedures.
Sources indicate that the seniority list, which was
initially from 2022, had changes implemented in 2025. Alarming enough, the
Establishment Wing of the Sports Directorate did not apprise the Secretary
Sports Office or the incumbent Director General (DG) Sports of these important
alterations. Criticizers are now regarding this lack of knowledge as a
calculated effort to delay and cover up the issue.
A further inquiry by sources reveals that under the
leadership of a previous DG Sports, the seniority list of the Caretaker was
secretly amended. This was done with the apparent motive of granting undue
promotions to certain persons through the DPC. Many employees have protested
against these actions, lodging written complaints at the Secretary Sports
Office.
Even after three formal reminders issued by the Secretary
Sports Office, the provincial Sports Directorate has remained surprisingly
quiet. The Secretary Sports Office had categorically asserted in writing that
the list released in 2025 has no legal status as the incomplete approval
process.
The employees who have been affected are now demanding a
complete investigation, creating quite an uproar within the ranks of the Sports
Directorate. They are also requesting an open investigation of the issue and
firm action against the individuals who have been found guilty of such other
irregularities.
