The Ghostly Green: How a Multi-Million Rupee Sports Ground Remains Sterile in Takht Bhai
TAKHR BHAI, KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA – For ten years, the sports ground of Takht Bhai Boys Degree College has been a cruel monument to failed public expenditure and dashed dreams of young people. Despite a gargantuan investment of 18.5 million rupees, this large green field, once the dream of a center for local youth, lies inexplicably out of bounds. No crash of a football, no ring of victorious cheers – only silence and a haunting hollowness.
Tauseef Ahmed Maidani, a well-known local citizen and Senior
Vice Chairman of the "Tehreek Tahaffuz Tehsil Takht Bhai" (Movement
for Protection of Takht Bhai Tehsil), has come forward with this scandal in a
written application submitted to Kikxnow. His report presents a grim picture of
bureaucratic indifference and suspected corruption.
"This land was approved ten years ago," Maidani
disclosed, his tone tinged with anger. "Once it was completed, the then
Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak, even officially opened it. But within a week,
the college administration shut it."
Official documents attest to the astronomical amount
incurred on this complex, but the youth of Takht Bhai continue to be denied its
advantages. This raises a sequence of pertinent questions that need to be
answered right away:
If the earthwork was "illegal" in the college
campus, then why was it constructed to begin with? The initial go-ahead and
expenditure thereafter indicate an intentional choice.
If it were legal, then why did the college administration
close it? What could possibly be more important than the public good of making
such an investment?
Why has the Provincial Sports Department, with its mandate
to provide youth with sports facilities, said nothing for so long? Their
silence is a clear indication of their dedication to their fundamental purpose.
Maidani describes the round-the-clock efforts of the
"Tehreek Tahaffuz Tehsil Takht Bhai" to raise this issue. "We've
organized several press conferences, protested, met with the DC Mardan, and
kept raising our voices on social media," he said. "But
unfortunately, the authorities are either doing things half-heartedly or
deliberately turning a blind eye towards us."
The movement's demand is simple and eminently reasonable:
"The ground should be opened daily at 3 PM, as per the season, and closed
at Maghrib prayer. The college administration has effectively occupied it,
while the Sports Department remains completely silent."
This isn't just a local grievance; it's a profound betrayal
of public trust. Maidani's questions to the government and the Sports
Department resonate deeply:
Has there been an audit of the money spent on this sporting
ground? Public money demands to be transparent.
Was constructing a public ground inside college campus
policy or not? If not, who sanctioned this violation and why?
If yes, then why this ground is not being made open for
public use? The public has the right to use facilities financed by them.
Has a powerful person shut the gap for personal benefit?
This is a serious allegation that needs to be investigated at once.
Is this a heartless joke on the future of our young people?
Withholding access to sports facilities can have long-term negative consequences
on their health and happiness.
This is not just about a piece of land; it's about the
aspirations, health, and social welfare of a whole generation. Where sports
provision is withheld, it inhibits physical growth, restricts social
interaction, and can drive youths towards more negative channels. The anger
seething in Takht Bhai can be felt, and unless the authorities wake up, this
inequity has the potential to spread into a mass public protest.
Kikxnow joins complete journalistic and social stand with
this call, appealing to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Department, College
Education Authority, and other concerned institutions to take urgent notice.
The era of silence is now over; the youth of Takht Bhai deserve more than a
haunting green field and empty promises.
