Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – The global cricket community is mourning the sudden passing of Bismillah Jan Shinwari, a renowned 41-year-old international cricket umpire affiliated with the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shinwari passed away at a private hospital in Peshawar after complications arose from a weight loss (abdominal fat removal) surgery. His demise has sent a wave of shock and sorrow through the cricketing world, particularly within the Afghan cricket fraternity.

According to family sources, Bismillah Jan had been admitted to a prominent private hospital in Peshawar recently for an abdominal fat removal surgery. The procedure was performed by a specialist bariatric surgeon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, complications developed post-operation, and his condition steadily deteriorated. He remained under treatment for five days but ultimately could not recover. Sources indicate that while the surgery was intended for specific fat loss, the subsequent medical complications proved fatal.

Bismillah Jan was considered one of Afghanistan's most distinguished cricket umpires. He had officiated numerous international cricket matches and was highly regarded as a talented and seasoned official in the region.
