Bajaur Hockey Players Left to Fend for Themselves: Bring Your Own Gear, Pay Your Own Fees!

Bajaur — Reports from Bajaur reveal the Provincial Sports
Directorate's appalling treatment of hockey players participating in a summer
camp. Sources indicate that for a single-day hockey camp, players were
shockingly told to bring their own equipment, including shin pads, balls, and
cones. Reluctantly, the players agreed, but the camp abruptly ended the very
next day after a bomb blast.
Reliable sources disclosed that coaches at the Bajaur Sports
Complex informed players they lacked even basic equipment, necessitating
players to supply their own. While players temporarily agreed, this demand
became a significant burden. They are already being charged a monthly fee of
500 rupees to play, yet receive no facilities or proper training in return.
The situation has deteriorated to the point where many young
players are growing disillusioned with this treatment. Furthermore, the
lighting conditions at the Bajaur hockey turf are abysmal – out of
approximately twenty lights, only one is functional, and even that frequently
goes out. This leaves players unable to play in the dark, forcing them to
abandon the ground early. These deficient arrangements raise serious questions
about the discouragement of athletes and the neglect by the Directorate of
Merged Districts.
