A New Dawn, A New Hope: Revival of Qamar Zaman Squash Complex

The sun-baked Peshawar afternoons hung a cloud of gloom over the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex. The courts that had been witnesses to international-level tournaments years ago had degraded, with wood eaten by termites, dusty floors, and overall run-down conditions. Players, who worked day and night, had to train under these deplorable conditions.

Tashfeen Haider, Director General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ordered a thorough cleaning and rehabilitation campaign. At the break of dawn, labourers equipped with brooms, water, and cleaning equipment moved out to revive the barren complex. In a few hours, the dust clouds cleared, and the original shape of the courts was visible.

At the same time, world champion Mohibullah Khan came to the complex with coaches. There was a ray of hope on the faces of the athletes who were present. The Director General of Sports also came to the scene, touring the courts and issuing directions on replacing the infested wood. He especially noted the measures taken to shield from the scorching sun.

Tashfeen Haider personally interacted with the players, seeking their opinion on matters such as the scorching heat, air conditioning unit relocation, and other infrastructural upgrades. A young player commented, "Earlier, we were sick of the heat, dust, and termite-infested floors, but now we feel that our hard work is being appreciated."

Players and coaches alike praised the efforts of DG Sports. Mohibullah Khan said, "This step is not only about cleaning the courts; it's the start of creating the future of squash in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa."

With the cleaning process now over, the courts will eventually reopen to players. With this new dawn, a fresh burst of hope, renewed ambitions, and the wings of new dreams have unfolded.

The Qamar Zaman Squash Complex—where new tales of sweat, willpower, and talent shall be inscribed.
