Delay in RTI Response Prompts Citizen to File Complaint with KP Information Commission
Peshawar: A citizen has formally lodged a complaint with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission after not receiving a response to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA).
The RTI application, submitted on April 7, 2025,
requested detailed information about former employees of the Tourism
Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) who are currently serving in KPCTA.
The information requested included:

A list and copies of final
academic qualifications of former TCKP employees now working in KPCTA
·
Details of the degree
verification process, including the verifying agencies and outcomes
·
Copies of regulations
approved by the KPCTA Board of Directors and any subsequent amendments
·
Hiring and employment
policies followed during the integration of TCKP into KPCTA
·
Internal audit reports and
their findings related to recruitment, degrees, and qualifications
·
Details of any public
consultations conducted during the transition from TCKP to KPCTA
Despite the passage of the legally mandated
response period, the applicant did not receive any information. Consequently, a
formal complaint was registered on June 10, 2025, with the KP Information
Commission under complaint number 12539.
The citizen emphasized that transparency and accountability in public institutions are essential and that the effective implementation of the RTI law in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is crucial for restoring public trust.
