Crisis of Vacant Key Positions in Charsadda District Sports Office: Most Crucial Posts Still Unfilled

An internal record from the District Sports Office of Charsadda reveals a startling reality: while most lower-grade positions (BPS-03)—such as gardener, watchman, sweeper, and groundman—have been filled, key administrative and technical posts remain vacant, severely affecting the office's overall performance.

According to available data, although Gul Rukh is currently posted as the District Sports Officer (BPS-17), the post of Administrator (BPS-17) remains unfilled. Critical roles like Assistants, Coaches, Computer Operators, and Manager-cum-Groundmen (BPS-16) are entirely vacant.

The most concerning detail from the District Sports Office located within Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex is that all coach positions (BPS-16) are vacant, directly impacting the training of athletes. Additionally, Senior Clerk (BPS-14) and Junior Clerk-cum-Typist (BPS-07) positions are also unfilled, potentially disrupting day-to-day office operations. Even technical roles such as Tube Well Operator (BPS-05) and Mosque Caretaker (BPS-03) have yet to be filled.

Out of a total of 93 sanctioned posts across the District Sports Office and its associated units, 71 have been filled, while 22 critical positions remain vacant. This situation raises serious questions about the department’s efficiency and administrative capabilities.

In contrast, almost all lower-tier staff appointments—gardeners, watchmen, sweepers, and groundmen—have been completed. Driver, electrician, lifeguard, and plumber positions are also filled. This paints a picture of imbalanced hiring: while physical labor and sanitation services are functioning, administrative, technical, and training functions are severely impacted.

The absence of essential administrative and coaching staff could hamper sports activities. Athletes may miss out on professional coaching. Office workflows, financial matters, and internal procedures may stall. Public trust in the Sports Office could also be undermined.

Why have these crucial posts been left vacant? Are budget constraints or political factors to blame for this delay? Is the Directorate of Sports taking any emergency steps to fill these roles?
