Allegations of Misuse at Sports Directorate: Officer Turns AstroTurf into a Tea Spot

In a shocking revelation, an officer from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate has been accused of turning a state-of-the-art AstroTurf facility into an informal tea spot, a move that has raised questions about priorities and accountability within the department.

The AstroTurf, designed for serious sports use, has been allegedly repurposed by the officer and employees for non-professional activities, including frequent tea breaks with colleagues and visitors. The facility, which was meant to serve the district's athletes and sports programs, is now reportedly being misused as a socializing spot, with people frequently gathering to drink tea and hold informal conversations instead of using the field for its intended purpose.

This comes amid growing concerns about the management and misuse of resources within the Sports Directorate. According to insiders, the AstroTurf's misuse reflects broader issues in the organization, where resources are often misallocated, and staff engage in questionable practices rather than focusing on the development of sports in the region.

A source within the Directorate, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the situation as "embarrassing" for the staff, stating, "While athletes struggle with inadequate facilities and lack of proper support, senior officials are enjoying luxury facilities for their own amusement."

The officer allegedly involved in this incident has faced criticism from both colleagues and the public. While some defend his actions, citing the need for team bonding and relaxation, many are calling for an investigation into the misuse of the AstroTurf and other sports resources that could be better utilized for the athletes' benefit.

"Sports infrastructure is meant for athletes, not as a recreational venue for staff. The government should intervene and hold accountable those responsible for this mismanagement," said a local sports activist who declined to be named.

The issue highlights a growing concern in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's sports sector, where resources allocated for the development of sports infrastructure and youth programs have often been underused or misappropriated. Investigations into other alleged instances of misconduct within the Sports Directorate, including ghost offices, missing funds, and fake events, are ongoing.

As the story unfolds, the public and athletes are demanding accountability and a more transparent, responsible approach to the management of sports resources in the province.

Govt urge open wedding halls in KP, owners

    PESHAWAR, (kikxNow) Representatives of Wedding Halls Association Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (WHA-KP) expressed their regret over still closure of wedding halls and demanded of the government to open halls. Speaking at a news press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Tuesday, president of WHA Khalid Ayub said that livelihood of hundreds of thousands workers were associated those wedding halls but it depends of their running business of marriages in the concerned halls.
