Open Sports Forum in Peshawar Reveals Lack of Interest by Sports Associations – Just 2 Out of 28 Show Up

Peshawar: District Government and Regional Sports Officer (RSO) conducted an open forum at Shah Tehmas Stadium, Peshawar, to discuss sports issues. But only two out of 28 registered sports associations in the city showed up for the event, demonstrating a stunning indifference towards solving sports-related issues.

Ironically, these groups often complain about there being no sports activities, yet when provided an opportunity to present their complaints and find solutions, they did not turn up. During the forum, 10 complaints were made in total—6 against the District Administration Peshawar and 4 are being forwarded to the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 5 of these problems were solved instantly.

Concerns highlighted by participants were the provision of inter-club tournaments, coaching courses, and fixed regular employment for coaches. According to experts, if sporting associations themselves are not willing to develop sports, how can there be actual progress in sports in the province?
