Lack of Sports Infrastructure and Budget Constraints Highlighted in Battagram District Sports Office Report

The District Sports Office Battagram has
come up with some critical information through an RTI report for the fiscal years 2023-24 and 2024-25. The report throws light on the problems facing the district's sports development, including a lack of infrastructureno budget, and minimum activities for sports promotion.

According to the report,
the entire district possesses only one sports groundsignifying the nonavailability of sport-related facilities for athletes. Though 28 events were arranged in 2023-24, the count drastically declined to 13 in 2024-25, depicting a fall in sports activities. There are just three registered clubs or associations; thereforesports receive very limited organizational support.

The office
runs with 13 permanent employees and no contract staff, which is a constraint in human resources. The financial figures indicate that the expenditure for the office in 2023-24 was Rs. 1,129,272, while for 2024-25, it is Rs185,000, inclusive of taxes. Sports activities promotion also decreased as it was Rs. 1,134,950 in 2023-24 and Rs. 197,200 in 2024-25.

The office is
situated in a rented 8-marla building and covers the whole district, making it an area with infrastructural shortcomings.

This report raises
a grave concern about the sports development situation in Battagram and requires the immediate attention of higher authorities to resolve these issues. With a low level of activity and a limited amount of resourcesthe athletes in the district are left with fewer opportunities to flourish.
