"Sports Directorate KP: Office Space Shortage Sparks Controversy Amid Project Mismanagement"
The Sports Directorate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a pivotal government department tasked with promoting sports and physical activities, finds itself in a dire space shortage crisis. With a significant role in fostering athletic development, the Directorate is now forced to share its already limited office space with staff from other projects, leading to operational inefficiencies and concerns over resource allocation.
The controversy stems from the Project
Director's decision to rent office space within the Directorate's premises to
accommodate staff from two major development projects: the Kohat Development
Authority and the "1,000 Sports Facilities Project." For the past
four months, the second floor of the Provincial Sports Directorate in Peshawar
has served as a makeshift workspace for both projects, alongside the Sports
Directorate for merged districts. However, this arrangement has displaced many
employees, leaving them unable to work effectively due to the lack of adequate
facilities.
Despite repeated attempts to obtain a
response from the Director General, no official clarification has been
provided, further fueling suspicions about transparency and the efficient use
of government resources. The silence raises questions about the management's
priorities and its commitment to addressing critical operational issues.
This situation severely impacts the
Directorate's ability to oversee and implement sports development programs
across the province. With two distinct projects operating from the same
location, the risk of mismanagement and inefficiency looms large. Employees
describe the environment as chaotic, with officials from the merged districts
feeling like "guests" in their own department.
The provincial government must take urgent
steps to address this crisis. Allocating proper office space and ensuring the
availability of necessary resources is critical for the Directorate to
effectively fulfill its mission. Without immediate action, the development of
sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may suffer, undermining the province's potential
to nurture talent and promote healthy lifestyles.
It is high time for authorities to
prioritize the needs of the Sports Directorate and focus on sustainable
solutions to support the growth of sports in the region.
