PKF Sole Authority for National Karate Team Selection, Warns Shah Faisal

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Karate Association Coordinator and International Coach Shah Faisal has clarified that the Pakistan Official Karate Federation (PKF) is the sole authority responsible for selecting the national karate team. He emphasized that no other organization has the mandate to form an official Pakistani karate team.

Faisal during a press conference held in Peshawar emphasized that other than the PKF, all other karate styles in Pakistan are private organizations and are not recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). These organizations recognize only the Hoku Rules Shotokan Karate style.

Faisal asked people and organizations to be careful while sponsoring private karate organizations. He said that they should get a confirmation from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Official Karate Association to ensure legitimacy. He expressed his concern over the practice of players and coaches from private organizations presenting invitations to unofficial events and participating in provincial and national competitions.

The official warned that the members of the assembly, who are collecting funds from government and non-government sports organizations, companies, and dignitaries, should know that there is no official status to these private organizations. He advised them to ask for letters and NOCs from the Sports Board, Olympics, and PKF.

Faisal stressed that the Pakistan Sports Board bears the expenses of the official karate team. He encouraged support for this team, which has represented Pakistan at international events every year and has brought accolades to the country in numerous ways.

He concluded by mentioning that academies for Hoku Rules Shotokan Karate are available in Qayyum Sports Complex and Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar. These academies, which are registered with the Olympics, train aspiring karatekas throughout the year from both settled and tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
