Ghost Swimmers Haunt Quaid-e-Azam Games: Questions Arise Over KP's Female Swimming Contingent

The recent Quaid-e-Azam Games have thrown up a curious case involving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) female swimming contingent. A list submitted by the Provincial Sports Directorate to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) raised eyebrows, as questions linger about the legitimacy of the swimmers included.

People close to the swimming association team report that they do not know everything about this; only four female girls participated in the Quaid-e-Azam Games there.

The main issue is a lack of transparency regarding selection and training of these athletes.

Unknown Origins: The association boasts that they don't have much information about the swimmers in the list. Key details like their training history, coaches, and even their knowledge of swimming remain unknown.

Who Approved These Names? It is also unclear as to how the selection of these swimmers happened. Who authorized them to join the KP team for the prestigious national games?

The Daily Allowance Quagmire: As if these swimmers would have been chosen, they surely should have been given daily allowances. However, further questions arise on the dispersion of these allowances, and where they were paid from, and who dispensed them.

No Show in Islamabad: Despite the allocation of resources like accreditation cards, room bookings, and even room reservations, the KP female swimmers failed to appear at the Quaid-e-Azam Games. The reasons for their absence remain unexplained.

Missing Sports Equipment: Another concerning aspect is the disappearance of sports kits, shoes, and daily allowances that were supposedly provided to the team.

This incident is similar to another provincial sports directorate, in which public funds were apparently used to send athletes who never participated.

Call for Accountability:

This situation demands proper investigation. The following questions must be answered:

Who selects and trains the KP female swimming team?

What criteria are used in selecting these swimmers?

Where and how do these swimmers train?

Who gave authorization for the disbursement of daily allowances?

Reason behind the absence of teams at the Quaid-e-Azam Games.

Who claimed the sports equipment and also the daily allowances disbursed?

The silence around it is very disturbing. Unless a transparent and neutral enquiry is conducted, proper accountability and misuse of funds for public purposes cannot be tackled.
