"High-Value Squash Court Equipment Stolen from Peshawar Sports Complex: Contractor Awaits Justice"
Peshawar , In a case that has raised questions about security protocols at the Peshawar Sports Complex, supporting glass panels worth approximately Rs. 1.2 million have gone missing. Ordered from Germany by contractor TTS Builders, the glass was intended for squash courts at Jinnah College, Islamia College, and Government College.
The equipment was temporarily stored in a custom wooden
crate outside the open-air gym of the Provincial Sports Directorate, per
instructions from the former Director General of Sports, Khalid Mehmood.
The contractor reported the loss to the Provincial Sports Directorate, but despite surveillance cameras in the complex, no footage was available to help trace the culprits. The contractor was informed that the cameras were faulty, and no backup existed beyond 22 days, leaving the Directorate unable to assist in locating the missing glass.
Frustrated, the
contractor stated that another set of glass panels had to be ordered from
Germany, resulting in further financial and logistical strain.
In addition to the missing equipment, the contractor has a security deposit of Rs. 1.5 million with the Directorate, which remains unresolved.
Given the complex nature of removing the panels from the
secure box, suspicions have been raised that the theft was conducted by someone
experienced in handling such high-value materials.
