CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Zahir Shah to raise more sports grants.
Provincial Hockey Association President Syed Zahir Shah
urged the KP government to increase the annual grants to various sports
associations and release them in time. He said sports raise Pakistan's flags
high; he requested the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to release grants
to all the associations so that their activities can resume. Speaking with
scribes in Peshawar, Syed Zahir Shah said that no funds had been set aside for
the last three to four years which had severely affected sports activities.
He further stated that the province and its people were once
under stress, but the Horse and Cattle Show and lance games arranged by the
Chief Minister have helped uplift the public's spirits. He further added that
such programs should be held two or three times a year to entertain the general
public as well as revive sports activities.
Syed Zahir Shah of Pakistan supposed that sports hoisted the
Pakistan flag and such new entrants in the arena as Arshad Nadeem put one's
head high in pride. He said, When the provincial Sports Board was there,
associations were encouraged, whereas after the formation of the Sports
Directorate, the concern for sports faded away.
He summoned the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali
Amin Gandapur, to enhance sports activities through more funds, bringing out
new sports heroes to reactivate sports activities in the province.
