Misappropriation of Funds: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Audit Report Reveals Irregularities

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Audit Report for the financial year 2022-23 has uncovered irregularities in the accounts of the Director Works, Sports Department. The report revealed that a sum of Rs. 9,041,744/- was allegedly misappropriated by being falsely shown as payments made to the FBR and DG Sports from a designated account intended for security and CDRs of contractors.

An investigation is now underway to determine the individuals responsible for the alleged misappropriation and to recover the funds. The audit report has also highlighted the need for stronger internal controls to prevent such incidents in the future.
