Former Squash Champion Muhibullah Raises Concerns over PSB Peshawar Restrictions

Former squash champion and world number 2 Muhibullah Khan, who also served as the director of Peshawar Sports Board and Coaching Center, met with the newly appointed Director General of PSB at the Islamabad headquarters. During the meeting, Muhibullah expressed deep concern over the restrictions imposed on players at the PSB Peshawar Center, particularly the ban on badminton, squash, and volleyball players.

He highlighted the financial difficulties faced by the players, who are required to pay a monthly fee of seven and a half thousand rupees. Given the current economic situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, many players find it challenging to afford this fee.

In response, the DGP PSB acknowledged that the fee was a decision made by the board and was not something he could change unilaterally. However, he assured Muhibullah that he would raise the matter with the board in light of the current circumstances.

Muhibullah emphasized that the Peshawar center has produced numerous international players, and the restrictions are particularly detrimental to the children of poor families who rely on sports for opportunities. He pointed out that the Provincial Sports Directorate offers similar facilities at lower fees.

The DGP PSB requested information about the fee structure of the Provincial Sports Directorate, indicating that he would discuss the matter with the board to explore potential solutions.
