Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium Peshawar: Multi-Million Turf and Water Machines Malfunction, Administration Remains Silent
Peshawar , At Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium Peshawar, the newly installed turf and water machines have become dysfunctional, leaving the central part of the turf completely dry. The water machine, installed a year ago, has broken down, and now the sprinklers have also stopped working. The staff responsible for maintaining the turf are manually operating the sprinklers in different directions to water the turf, but the center remains dry.
This
ground was developed by the Pakistan Sports Board and Coaching Center, which
faced objections from the Hockey Association. Additional Director General
Rashida Ghaznavi also raised concerns and submitted a report on the matter. At
the time, the Provincial Sports Directorate claimed that the ground had not yet
been handed over to them. A video also surfaced showing nails being hammered
into the turf to fix it, but the administration took no action.
PSB
Deputy Director Shahid Islam visited the ground, but no steps were taken to
resolve the issue. Meanwhile, the water machines have also stopped functioning
properly due to faulty wiring, causing the sprinklers to fail in covering the
entire turf.
It
is worth noting that this turf was constructed at a cost of approximately 100
million PKR, yet no one has taken notice of the ongoing problems.
