Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate Breeding Kite Fighters, Not Athletes

The Provincial Sports Directorate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become a breeding ground for kite fighters rather than athletes. The sports grounds, once meant for nurturing athletic talent, are now being transformed into dangerous kite-flying arenas.

Despite strict bans on kite flying due to the hazardous use of glass-coated kite strings (manjha), the practice continues unabated at the sports directorate's grounds. The presence of these sharp wires poses a severe threat to the safety of athletes and spectators alike.

The sports circles have expressed deep concern over the administration's failure to address this issue. Despite multiple incidents of injuries and arrests related to kite flying, the directorate seems to be turning a blind eye to the problem.

Moreover, the security measures at the sports directorate are inadequate. Despite the installation of security cameras, the CCTV footage is not being utilized effectively to prevent and investigate incidents.

The growing culture of violence and indiscipline within the sports directorate is a matter of grave concern. It is imperative that the authorities take decisive action to address the issue of kite flying and ensure the safety and well-being of those associated with the sports facilities.
