Chief Minister Boosts Prize Money, Sialkot Athlete Takes First Place
Peshawar, Pakistan: A historic moment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's sporting landscape unfolded as the province hosted its inaugural 25 km marathon race. The event, flagged off by Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, commenced at Chamkani and culminated at the Hayatabad Sports Complex.
Over 3,000 athletes from across
Pakistan participated in the marathon, showcasing their endurance and
athleticism. The sports department spared no effort in ensuring a smooth
running of the event, implementing comprehensive traffic management plans,
providing essential facilities, and guaranteeing the safety of all
participants.
In a significant announcement, Chief
Minister Ali Amin Gandapur revealed that the prize money for the first-place
finisher had been elevated from three lakh rupees to a substantial four lakh
rupees. Similarly, the prize money for second and third-place finishers was
increased from two lakh to three lakh rupees and from one lakh to two lakh
rupees, respectively.
Highlighting the provincial
government's commitment to sports development, Chief Minister Gandapur
emphasized that promoting sports is a key priority. He underscored the
government's efforts to provide ample opportunities for healthy activities to
the youth and announced significant investments in sports infrastructure to
support athletes at both national and international levels.
The marathon concluded with a
triumphant victory for a Sialkot athlete, who secured the coveted first
position. The event marked a significant milestone in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's
sporting history, inspiring athletes and fostering a culture of physical
fitness and competition.
