Balochistan Boxer Receives Sponsorship for World Championship Fight
A prestigious ceremony was held at the Governor House in Peshawar to provide sponsorship to Muhammad Shoaib Khan Zahri, a young Asian boxing champion from Balochistan, for his upcoming fight against an Indian boxer in the World Boxing Championship.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, presented a sponsorship check of Rs 25.5 million from the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to the talented boxer. The General Manager Corporate Social Responsibility of OGDCL, Abdul Razak Khattak, was also present at the event.
Several dignitaries, including vice chancellors of various universities, athletes from the province, and political and social figures, attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Kundi expressed his gratitude to OGDCL for their generous sponsorship and wished Muhammad Shoaib Khan Zahri success in his upcoming match. He emphasized the importance of such support for talented athletes and their contribution to raising Pakistan's pride.
The governor also highlighted the need for more support from businesses and individuals to nurture young sporting talent in the province. He announced plans to establish cricket academies in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat, and D.I. Khan to promote sports development.
Muhammad Shoaib Khan Zahri, the young boxing champion, expressed his appreciation for the sponsorship and vowed to bring glory to Pakistan with his hard work and dedication. He revealed that he had been struggling to find sponsorship before the Governor's intervention.
