Unpermitted Flag Raising and Afghan National Day Celebration at Hayatabad Sports Complex Raises Security Concerns
Peshawar , On August
19, the National Day of Afghanistan was celebrated with unexpected fanfare at
the Hayatabad Sports Complex. The event featured cake cutting, the playing of
Afghanistan's national anthem, and the participation of local children in
various sports activities. The sports complex was adorned with flags and
balloons, adding to the festive atmosphere.
However, the event has sparked controversy and concern among
local security agencies. The celebration, which took place in the posh area of
Hayatabad, featured the tricolor flag of Afghanistan—a flag currently banned in
the country. This unexpected display has left security agencies questioning how
permission was granted for such an event.
Adding to the complexity, the national flag of Afghanistan
has undergone recent changes, now bearing the word "Tayyaba" and
appearing in white. The tricolor flag’s unauthorized display has prompted
authorities to demand a full report, as the provincial sports directorate
remains silent on the matter.
