Peshawar Cricket Booms: Zoning Needed to Unleash Young Talent!
Cricket fever is gripping Peshawar! The number of clubs,
especially in Pashta Khra and surrounding areas (with 13 registered clubs
alone!), is a testament to the city's burgeoning cricketing passion. Malik
Farman Ali, the driving force behind Malik International Cricket Academy, has
been nurturing young talent since 2002.
"We've seen countless players reach domestic and
international levels," says Malik Farman. "Our academy even trained
players who went on to represent Afghanistan!"
Peshawar, a historic hub for Pakistani cricket, deserves a
dedicated infrastructure to support this surge. Malik Farman proposes dividing
the city into zones, mirroring successful models in Karachi and Islamabad.
Malik Farman's love for the game is legendary. He'd prepare
pitches before school and play on his way back! Though his professional career
sidelined his own playing days, his dedication continued. He managed a district
team and established the first private cricket academy in Peshawar, bringing
qualified PCB coaches onboard.
Malik International Cricket Academy has become a beacon for
aspiring cricketers. It attracts players
not just from Peshawar, but Charsadda, Dir, Kohat, Bannu, and even Afghanistan!
Peshawar's cricketing potential is undeniable. By dividing the city into zones and providing a robust infrastructure, the PCB can unlock a wealth of young talent, ready to represent Pakistan on the world stage.
