Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate Accused of Misappropriating Achievements
Peshawar,
Pakistan: The sports association in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has vehemently
criticized the actions of the provincial sports directorate, accusing them of
attempting to claim credit for the achievements of various sports associations.
According to reports, a top official from the directorate has been contacting
different associations, seeking information about their players and
accomplishments.
The
association has expressed concerns that the directorate's intention behind this
move is to appropriate the hard work and success of individual associations. By
compiling a list of top players, the directorate aims to present them as their
own, potentially compromising the associations' recognition and resources.
Sources
within the association have revealed that the provincial sports directorate has
not provided any funding to the associations for the past three years. This
lack of financial support has hindered their ability to organize competitions
and develop players. Despite this, the directorate is now seeking information
about the associations' top talent, raising questions about their motives.
The
association has pointed out that the directorate's focus on organizing under-21
and under-23 competitions, as well as inter-university events for eunuchs, is a
superficial approach to sports development. While these events may be
commendable, they do not contribute significantly to producing top-level
athletes.
The
association has demanded that the provincial sports directorate provide a clear
explanation for their actions and demonstrate how they have supported the
development of sports in the province. They have also called for transparency
and accountability in the allocation of funds and resources.
