VIPs Play Cricket on Closed Football Ground, Sparking Outrage Among Athletes
Peshawar , In a shocking display of disregard for athletes' needs, a video has surfaced online showing officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate playing cricket on a football ground that has been closed to players for the past two years. The incident has sparked outrage among the sports community, who are questioning the priorities of the Sports Directorate.
The football ground and tartan track at the Peshawar Sports
Complex were built at a cost of 55 crores rupees specifically for the use of
athletes. However, despite being fully constructed, the football ground has
been inaccessible to players for practice. The Sports Directorate claims that
allowing players to use the ground would damage it, but this explanation has
fallen on deaf ears.
The recent video, which shows Sports Directorate officials
playing cricket on the closed ground, has been widely shared on social media,
drawing strong criticism from athletes and sports enthusiasts. Many have
expressed disappointment that the very people responsible for providing
facilities to athletes are themselves misusing the grounds.
The incident has also raised concerns about the overall
mismanagement of sports facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Athletes and sports
organizations are calling on the provincial government to take immediate action
and ensure that sports facilities are properly maintained and made accessible
to those who need them most.
