Peshawar Witnesses Boxing Boom as New Clubs Register with Grand Competition

PESHAWAR: The boxing scene in Peshawar is thriving as two new clubs recently registered with the official association after a competitive event held at the Peshawar Sports Complex. Nearly 50 boxers from these clubs, located in Hayatabad, Peshawar, showcased their skills in front of district and provincial boxing officials.

Mohammad Ajamal, District Boxing Association Secretary, and Khizrullah, Provincial Secretary, graced the occasion. Khizrullah spoke about the growing number of boxing clubs in Peshawar, stating, "We currently have 24 registered clubs, and today's competitions mark the registration of two more."

He elaborated on the registration process, highlighting that coaches register boxers, and the most promising athletes are then selected to join training camps. Khizrullah also announced an upcoming national-level boxing competition in Abbottabad next month.

In an interesting development, Khizrullah revealed a separate registration process for Afghan boxers due to their significant presence in the sport. This initiative ensures a more streamlined registration system for both Pakistani and Afghan athletes.

The competitive event for club registration marks a significant step forward for Peshawar's boxing community. With new clubs emerging and a national competition on the horizon, the future of the sport in the city appears bright.
