PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate is embroiled in controversy surrounding the appointment of a female table tennis coach. The department recently dismissed a qualified and experienced coach, citing redundancy. However, reports suggest efforts are underway to appoint the wife of a male coach currently employed by the Directorate.

This move has been met with public outrage, with accusations of nepotism and favoritism overshadowing the selection process. Critics point out that the favored candidate already holds a coaching position elsewhere, raising questions about her availability and commitment to the role.

The dismissal of the previous coach, particularly without settling unpaid dues, is seen as a further injustice. The Directorate's justification of the wife's appointment based on her husband's presence within the department has only fueled criticism.
