Hockey Tournament in Mardan marred by Spectator Brawl

Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - A recent hockey tournament in Mardan took an unpleasant turn when a brawl erupted between spectators during the final match. While initial reports suggested player involvement, a detailed inquiry revealed a different story.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association (KPHA) constituted a committee to investigate the incident. The committee, led by Tournament Director Hazrat Nawaz and including Tournament Officer Hayat Khan, Field Jury Nasir Khan, and Inquiry Committee members Irfan Kamran Khan, Jamshed Khan, Amir Zeb, and Sher Wali Khan, submitted a report outlining their findings.

According to the report, the players themselves maintained proper conduct throughout the game. The altercation occurred solely among spectators with no connection to the teams. An individual named Liye was involved in a fight, resulting in a broken hand as per the attached medical report. His brother, Zakaria Hayat, attempted to intervene during the incident.

The KPHA emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship and hopes to prevent similar occurrences in future tournaments. Mardan District Hockey Association Secretary submitted the report, urging fans to maintain decorum and highlighting the importance of fair play in sports.
